Dear Friends,Another year of ministry among Polish university students and graduates has already begun - new academic year of 2004/2005.

The summer is always a time of interesting, challenging and intensive work for us. This year we had seven camps for both students and graduates, we also participated in a camp in Estonia.
One of the things that soon became apparent to us was that the camps which involved many interesting activities, namely: yachting, hiking, canoeing, mountain biking or learning English were the most popular amongst the students. We had great fun on these camps and they were also a great opportunity for us to really connect with them in fresh ways and on a deeper level. We were allowed the privilege of investing in their lives and best of all to be able to share with them about our God.
We were also blessed with the inauguration of the new academic year in the Polytechnic of Silesia. We were involved in a "Starter" project.
Using a
TeaBus (a bus converted into a coffee house) we served free tea and coffee in return asking students to fill in a questionnaire. It was a fantastic way to meet new students and start conversations. We gave away 6000 magazines to first year students. The magazines hold information about the university, student life, Christian activities and an invitation encouraging them to be involved with ChSA meetings in the university.
At first the students were really suspicious about the whole thing. They were asking questions and making sure we weren't a sect. But there was also a large group of students who were open and very interested in our project. Some were coming back the next day with their friends ready to talk about everything, including Christianity and God. Across Poland in universities and on campuses all kinds of different projects, meetings, parties or concerts are taking place to promote ChSA groups and activities.

We are also proud to have a newly adapted, more user friendly website. We wanted to encourage young people to visit our site and gain more information about who we are.
It has been a great success so far and now has the added advantage of having its own chat room enabling students from the summer camps and different universities to continue to stay in touch with us and each other. Unfortunately we are still in the process of reconstructing the English version of the website However we hope that it will be up and running soon.

In November it will be our great joy and privilege to host Rich Lamb from InterVarsity who will be the main speaker at our annual training for ChSA staff workers, volunteers and student leaders - his teaching will be based on the training material "Leading Edge". We pray that this will be a time of remarkable influence on those individuals who are involved with ChSA, and furthermore that it will have a great impact on our ministry and commitment whilst helping us to better understand our role - serving others, bringing Polish students to faith in Jesus Christ.

Apart from our weekly work with students, we also wanted to specially mention and draw your attention to our growing ministry amongst graduates. We are excited to be planning new groups for graduates in several cities. Those groups will be designed for certain professions. There is also a plan to create groups for young marries and families with small children. There is already a potential staff worker who would like to help organize these graduate activities. However, the biggest challenge for us now is finding financial support to employ him.
In October we gained a new staff worker, Piotr Zaniewski, for whom we are so grateful to God. He has filled the vacancy in Warsaw that was previously occupied by Gretchen Saalbach, our former staff worker who has recently returned to the States.
Despite the continual busyness and involvement of my husband Mirek in the IFES ministry as regional coordinator in Central Europe, and also my responsibilities in ChSA and our ministry within our local church, we are so grateful to God for his continual faithfulness, love, goodness and grace that we see each day. Also our kids bring us much joy and satisfaction. Especially now as we see them getting more involved in ministry and feeling more responsible for their friends. All the time we work hard on maintaining our close relationships, we do everything we can to stay close to them and their lives. We try to find time for honest conversations, as well as 'crazy' family activities (we go skiing, swimming, biking together).
As a family we also have our dreams, but the greatest thing we want to be faithful in, is gratefulness to our Lord-because He is Good!
